Sunrise Mall Farmer’s Market Relocates to the Sunrise Light-Rail Station
A decades old farmer’s market at Sunrise Mall has decided to relocate to the Sunrise light-rail station in Rancho Cordova, starting March 6.
“We’ve had the privilege of hosting this weekly event for a long, long time and while it’s sad to see it go, we’re pleased it will continue to serve the community, as the light-rail station is only four miles away,” said Christi Woodards, general manager of Sunrise Mall.
Sunrise Mall and the farmer’s market have been in conversations for contract renewal for the last several weeks. The goal was to develop a mutually beneficial agreement but in the course of the discussions, the farmer’s market let Sunrise Mall know of their choice to begin operating in a new location, starting next month.
Dan Best, California Certified Farmer’s Market chief executive officer and general counsel for the California Federation of Certified Farmer’s Markets indicated a longer-term deal and proximity to mass transit was part of his motivation behind the decision to relocate the market.
“We wish Dan and his market many more years of continued success as he begins operations in a new home,” Woodards said.
