Halloween Festivities and Costume Store at Sunrise Mall
Sunrise Mall is once again hosting its annual free family Trick-Or-Treat event from 4pm to 6pm on Halloween Night, Sunday, October 31st. Families with costumed children 12 years old and under are welcome to visit participating retailers for free treats. Participating retailers will be identified with pumpkins posted in their windows the evening of. Last year, approximately 5,000 ghouls and goblins attended.
New to the festivities this year are Spooky Photos, available for purchase in JCPenney Court. Customers will be able to buy a 5” X 7” photo for $5. Green screen technology allows the mall to have some fun with the backgrounds. Options include a graveyard scene, having a tarantula on your cheek, and flying through the air on a broom.
“Sunrise Mall’s indoor Trick-Or-Treat event is a neighborhood tradition,” said Christi Woodards, Sunrise Mall’s general manager. “It’s a nice way for families to rake in loads of candy and stay out of darkened streets.”
As Sunrise Mall is still open for business during the event, understandably, masks are not allowed, nor is excessive facial make-up. The Citrus Heights Police Department hosts a table at the event and wanders the mall as well.
Another addition to the center this year is Halloween ExStore, a temporary costume store near Sears. Halloween ExStore is opening October 1.
“With Halloween ExStore open during the month of October, it may very well be that many of the costumes we see on Halloween night are purchased at Sunrise Mall,” said Woodards.
